The school’s policy is that all girls should be entered for public examinations in the courses they have followed in Years 10 and 11. Rare exceptions are made to this policy where a pupil’s ability is limited or where there are serious health problems, but all pupils are expected to complete their course of study. Any pupil who does not attend lessons provided at the school may be asked to pay the full cost of taking the examinations.
Exam Result Success: Brentwood Ursuline Top of the Table 2007!

The school is delighted to report some very encouraging exam results this year. At “A” level we were particularly successful with an overall pass rate of 97%. Moreover 52% of passes were at grades A and B, this placed us at the top of the table among the state schools in Brentwood. It also represents a healthy increase upon last year’s figure. Amongst our top students were two girls who attained 5 A grades at “A” level. Hannah Wood will be taking up her place at Cambridge to read natural sciences while Florence Gilbey is studying English at Sussex. Three other students achieved 4 A grades while several more got 3 A grades. The vast majority of our students were able to take up their first choices at university on the basis of these grades.
At GCSE the school also had a good set of results. A total of 81% of students gained 5+ passes at A*-C, particular successes were Megan West and Louisa Nefs who gained 7A* and 3A grades, Laura Potts who got 6A* and 3 A grades, Nicole Finn, Ciara Sinott, Kathryn Gormley, Bobbie Greenhill and Maria Whitfield who all managed 5A* and several A grades each. These results compare very favorably with other local schools, in fact the 81% figure is a full 10% higher than any other Brentwood state school.
The results were a just reward for all the hard work put in by staff and students. It was good to see so many smiling faces on results day! The school will continue to set challenging targets for its students and we look forward to even greater successes in the future.
